Vocabulary

'I want to see you' vs 'I want to meet you'

Hi

Could you please shed some light on these sentences? Are they equally natural?

[Boy to his girl friend on phone]

I want to see you.

I want to meet you.

Thanks,

Tom

"I want to see you" is fine. "I want to meet [with] you" wouldn't be common with close friends. "I want to meet you" implies that they've never met face-to-face.

Since it is to a girlfriend (established relationship):

See you - Do not care where, I just want to get together
Meet you - Specific location

So, which of these is better?

Hi,

#2 sounds a little more relaxed and natural to me.

We also often say

I'll be leaving for London by the end of this month. So, let's get together before that.
