'I want to go home now'

I want to go home now.

I think that now modifies go but I am still confused that some teacher now modifies want there.

I think that it is better for now to be put close to want like Now, I want to go home or I now want to go home to say now modifies want.

What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much as usual in advance!

I think that now modifies go It can modify go or want or if it's ambiguous, you could say it modifies the whole sentence. It depends on the context. Here's an example where 'now' modifies 'want'.
