I wanna see you dance/dancing/cry/crying

Which one should I use?

I've noticed that gerund is only used if there's something else following it :

I don't wanna see you crying over me.
I don't wanna see you cry.
I wanna see you dance.
I wanna see you dancing for me.

Is there any rule?

can I say ‘‘ I wanna see you dance’’ as well as ‘‘I wanna see you dancing’’? Is there any difference in meaning?

Sorry, I can't get past "wanna."

It really depends on the context. Both infinity and gerund are possible in the " I want to see..." context, but one form seems to to be more idiomatic over the other based on what is being talked about. But as far as being correct is concerned, Ithink the infinitve is more correct.
Examples:
I want to see (that) you finish your homework before you play. Preferred.
I want to see you f

These expressions/lines seem to be from a colloquial book or perhaps from rock songs. I'm not sure that grammar rules apply in those cases.

You're right -- I would make an exception for "I wanna hold your hand"!
