Could this phrase be used for describing kind of work (profession)?

For example, is it correct to say:

I used to be a teacher.
I used to be a seller.
I used to be a worker
and so on

I just need to be sure that "used to" can be used in such cases. I know that I can say "I used to be a blond" or "I used to live in Spain" or "I used to smoke", but I have never seen this phrase in regard to profession.

We don' commonly speak of just 'a worker'.
We say
eg a factory worker
eg an office worker
