I tried to close the window but he stuck his fingers...

Hi

I need a verb for this situation. Do you think stuck would work?

I tried to close the window but he stuck his fingers/hand in between.

[He held the window in such a way that if I forced close it, his fingers would be trapped.]

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Does the phrase "forced close" or "forced open" work at all?

'Stuck' is OK, but I think you need to be a little wordy to convey all that information. eg I tried to close the window, but he stuck his hand in the way so that I had to stop to avoid hurting him. Clive

I would say "wedged it open with his hand".

He forced close the door.

He forced open the door. OK. A more common word order is 'He forced the door open'.
He forced close the door. No. Say 'He forced the door closed'.
