Grammar

"I told him I will..."

After I told him I will quit the job, I felt refreshed.

Is it possible that will is used after told? Or will should be would for the tense agreement all the time?

Cf. Someone is going to quit his job tomorrow and told his boss today and explained this to his friend today.

What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance.
