I thought.......(HELP)

Okay I'm seriously confused by what I've seen some people posted lately.
Do "I thought you wanted to sleep?" and "I thought you want to sleep?" carry different meaning? Or the former (latter) is considered grammatical incorrect?
Anyone out there please help me!:( Thank you.

  • Yes, the latter is gramatically incorrect.
  • People use it because they don't give a toss about grammar rules, although I seldom hear people say "want" in your kind of sentence.
