I thought/ was wondering

Should a verb after "I thought"/"was wondering" be in past tense/present tense? Which tense is more common/correct and why?

For example,

1) "I thought he wanted to go to the party" or "I thought he wants to go to the party"

2)" I thought you hated me." or "I thought you hate me."

3) "I was wondering whose car was that." or " I was wondering whose car is that."

4) "I was wondering if you liked my shirt" or "I was wondering if you like my shirt"
