I thought...

Hey, I have a question

Is it okay for me to say "I thought you would be gone on 1st of June"? or should it be "I thought you would be gone by 1st of June"?

Thanks a lot!

Both are fine. 1) You are (will be) absent on June 1. 2) You left (will leave) before June 1.

Hey I am wondering if "gone" is the right word for that? If I want to say "You are (will be) absent on June 1" shouldn't it be"I thought you would be away on June 1st"

As for the second meaning, Shouldn't it be " I thought you would have been gone by the 1st of June"?

Thanks

Hey I am wondering if "gone" is the right word for that? It is a common way to say it.
I thought you would be away on June 1st" That is another common way to say it.

I thought you would have been gone by the 1st of June"? That is an alternative. The original is probably more common.
