I think, therefore I am

Hi friends,
Need your help again. I found this philosopher René Descartes's suppose-to-be-famous words: I think, therefore I am. I wonder what he was trying to say. Does it mean that human beings should have thoughts which distinguishes them from animals? Or does it carry the meaning that world exists spiritually. Look forward to your ideas. Many Thanks.

hehe, no problem! We're definitely thorough!

That "Dictionary of Cultural Literacy" is a good book. I used to study it in junior high school when I was briefly on the academic team, before I decided that I didn't feel like learning facts for facts' sake. Very interesting reading, though!

Thank you!!!
You are just so kind to answer my weird questions. Sorry for that, hehe. Fact is that I need the answers so that I could do the same thing as what you are doing when I'm facing another group of questioners, hehe.
On the whole, you saved me. hehe

Don't neglect to point out that the so-called "Cogito" is a fallacy.

It's circular. It assumes in the premiss what it claims to prove in the conclusion.

DesCartes is saying "I exist" must be true because "I think". But "I think"
