Hello,
I am planning to apply for my MBA in Europe and it requires me to submit a Motivation Letter.
The School has not given any prompt as such but has only mentioned that I need to specify why I am interested in the program. The limit that they have given is maximum of one A4 page.
A quick intro about my profile. I am an Engineer who initially worked in technical field and then changed careers to work in Business Development and have experience of working(from India) with regions like Europe, UK & US. With an MBA, I would be looking to move into Finance.
Before you read my Motivation Letter, I feel that I should mention that I have not covered my initial career change because if I do the same, the letter will exceed the specified limit of one A4 page as the current draft leaves only 1-2 lines and I need more than that to elaborate on it. I think that this point can be covered in the the Admissions Interview so I can address the same at that time & hence I have directly started elaborating from the job from which I had started working in the new business development profile(2nd job). Would this be OK ?
To whomsoever it may concern
I am interested in applying for the <Program Name> in <School Name>. I believe that my international work experience, personal skills and my drive make me one of the top contenders for this program. After completing my program, I intend to start my career into Finance.
As part of my roles & responsibilities of working into Business Development, I reach out to businesses in order to tell them about my company, our services & the way we could help them solve a wide variety of business challenges. Out of the many services which I have sold, Finance & Accounting Outsourcing Services are the ones that have always fascinated me. I have always felt a natural connect while speaking to relevant stakeholders in the area of Finance. Apart from this, I feel that the other reason that I have been drawn to the area of Finance is the fact that I have also been responsible for managing the finances of my household for some-time now. Due to this, I have always wondered about how it can be done for large companies. Taking a course like <Program Name> which has significant number of courses relating to Finance will put me in a better position to understand Finance & its various aspects.
During my quest to find an ideal destination (in Europe) to pursue my higher education,<Country Name> came across as a country which provides a very conducive environment to an international non-EU student like me. With the city of <City Name> being an important commercial centre in <Region Name>, I sense that it will provide an ideal setting for me to pursue my further career after completing the course. Additionally; I would like to say that the course will help me start my career in the <Distinct characteristic of the country e.g.if I have to say China, instead of saying it directly I will say country with the largest population>. Coming from a technical background, I admire the highly structured <Country Name> work environment and would love to experience first-hand the strong work ethic which is its distinct characteristic.
Having worked with regions like Europe, US and UK has given me the opportunities to interact with people of various nationalities. Over the period of time, this has helped me to not only gain an international perspective but also develop the necessary business skills which will help me work well in a multicultural environment. These skills coupled with my resolve to get things done would definitely put me in a better position to succeed & make it in <Country Name>. I thank you for your time to consider my application.
Yours sincerely,
<First Name> <Last Name>
I would really appreciate a feedback on the above.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
