Now, I am going to send an email to ask. Some people would not bother, and would just assume they were niot successful.

Is the sentence grammatically correct?

Sentence:
It is 30 days after the meeting, so I think it is a correct time to follow up my application and to express my continued interest in the position.

This just reads as if you are answering a friend who asks 'Why are you going to write to them?'

But a very unsuitable sentence. It sounds like you are rebuking the recipient.

I suggest:

- forget about counting the days.

- thank him for the interview.

- say that you are wondering if they have made a decision yet.

- briefly express again your interest in the position.

- thank hm again for his time
