I Think I Thought I Saw You Cry?

This is part of the lyrics from a song by REM -- "Losing My Religion".

1. Is the sentence "I think I thought I saw you cry" grammatically correct?

2. He stayed and watched his partner perform. (I think this is correct?)

3. Yesterday, he heard the news that the prisoner escape(d) [?] from the prison.

Thanks. Emotion: smile
