I have a question regarding the usage of the phrase 'I think I forgot'.
Yesterday, when we couldn't find our carpool entry/exit pass in its usual place in the car, we decided to exlplain this to the person in charge to obtain a temporary pass. While explaining, when asked where our usual pass was, my carpoolmate said "I think I forgot the pass at home". To this, the immediate reply was "Do you think or have you forgotten?"
Was my friend correct in saying "I think I forgot the pass at home"?
