'I spent hours doing that problem and I still got the answer wrong.'

My question is 'I still got' a Past Simple Tense?

Thank you. And If I would say 'I spent hours doing that problem and I still got the wrong answer.' . Would it be correct and natural? In my first sentence I said 'the answer wrong'.
