I started drawing/I have started drawing

Dear all,

I have been drawing pictures for a few years. Even today I have drawn one. In this context, I would like to know which of the following sentences is correct. My confusion is whether I can use the simple past tense or have to use present perfect tense to show its connection with the present.

1) I started drawing pictures a few years ago.

2) I have started drawing pictures a few years ago.

Thank you.
