I should think that

Hi, would someone please tell me what's the difference between "I should think that" and "I think that" ?

for example:

I should think i heard his voice.

I perceive no real difference in meaning. The use of should may be a little old-fashioned in that sentence and I think it is mostly used by elderly Britons these days. I don't think many Americans use it at all.
