i saw you eat or i saw you eating

hello.
I saw both forms, but i have no idea which one is the correct one. personally, i like the gerund form. not just in this case.

So, which ne is correct or are both correct?

They are both correct,but different in meaning.

Maybe I give you two examples:

1) I saw you cross the road.

Both are perfectly acceptable in spoken conversation. As far as I know, both of them are equally correct in written contexts, as well.
