I agree with CalifJim that his third sentence sounds strange. Reason? Simply because native speakers don't phrase sentences like that in that way though they are grammatically correct. It's hard for me too

Does the above sentence : I saw a girl walking on the street, mean that "I saw a girl who is walking on the street" or that I saw a girl's action of walking on the street?
My impression is that you would have had to see both the girl and the action of walking at the same time, and that's what the sentence claims. If I had to choose, I would hesitate for a long time.
