I pray that he reaches the summit of his career...

Hi

Is this sentence natural? Any suggestion is welcome.

I pray that he reaches the summit of his career with more zeal and devotion and nothing distressing comes his way.

Can we use  subjunctive?

I pray that he reach the summit of his career with more zeal and devotion and nothing distressing come his way.

Thanks,

Tom

I find the relationship of "with more zeal and devotion" to the rest of the sentence a bit uncertain. Do you mean you pray that he applies himself to his work with more zeal and emotion, and thereby reaches the summit of his career?

GPY... , and that nothing distressing comes his way.
Why have you put the conjunction "that" after the "and"? Is it that the 'distance' between the "I pray that..." and "nothing distressing..." is too big?

Yes, that and also the fact that it follows "zeal and devotion". As originally written, "zeal and devotion and nothing distressing" tends to run together as one phrase.
