"I" is correct, as the "who" in the question is the subject, not the object. "Me" is more commonly used, though.

My feeling is that "I" is idiomatically so unnatural as to be effectively incorrect, irrespective of grammar.

I'm inclined to agree, hence my bit each way. I'd probably avoid the issue by answering "I do" -- but that's just me.
