Which is correct?

Your question reminds me of an example I once saw in a grammar book.
Compare these two sentences:
Mr Pettigrew likes his secretary more than his wife.
Mr Pettigrew likes his secretary more than his wife does.
As you certainly notice these two sentences may have two different meanings '(or just the same, depending on the way yopu loook at it)
