I never know if she looks or is looking at

Hello, which is correct "She always wears glassese so I never know if she looks at me" or "She always wears glasses so I never know if she is looking at me". The second sentence seems to be correct but I'm not sure.

Why?

Presumably the object of his attention is wearing dark glasses, and he sees her on a regular basis.

"I never know if she looks at me" = I never know if she notices me.
"I never know if she is looking at me" = I never know if she gazes at me.
