I need your help with the following sentences, please

Hi teachers,

Could someone please tell me if the following sentences are correct or not? Is there any difference in their meanings? Can I use "had thought" in place of "thought" in these sentences? Would there be any difference in the meaning if I did so, please?

Here are the sentences:

-You aren't as smart as I thought you were.
-You aren't as smart as I thought you you would be.

Thank you.
