Some people believe arts such as painting and music cannot directly improve the quality of people's lives so that government money should be spent on other things. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, an increasing number of people have concerned about the phenomenon that painting, music and other works of art are unable to have a huge impact on the improvement of human's lives. Therefore, policymakers should place emphasis on investment in other crucial priorities. Personally, I partly agree with this point of view.

On the one hand, art would play an important role in out mental lives. In other words, it could be considered as means of entertainment, which provides individuals opportunities to refresh after nerve-racking time. When people get bored, one should, for example, take listening to music into account. It not only has tremendous effects on moral values but also directly influence to the physical ones. From an economic perspectives, the development of art industry also contributes to financial growth. A multitude of music albums of renowed singers and masterpieces of genius artists would enable them to achieve both money and precious awards, which ends up making their lives better.

On the other hand, only paying attention on arts could be not an optimal choice to enhance standard of lives, thus, too much to ask those in power to spend national budget on education, social welfare, health services and other forms of vital infrastructure. In terms of environmental issues, air quality is of paramount importance in this day and age. To be more specific, government should invest more money on cleaning environment and researching other measures to mitigate this problem, especially global warming. In addtion, state budget should be invested to resolve traffic congestion in some cosmopolitant cities. Moreover, social welfare also need to be raised in an attempt to support the elderly and the unemployed.

In conclusion, while arts could help us to raise living conditions, public spending should be also invested in some other fields. As a result, the standard of lives would be obviously improved.
