You're just fishing for answers. If you don't understand a single word, you should be in a lower level class. You'll learn a lot more than being in over your head.

Let's start by asking if you understand the words that make up the answers. For example, can you rephrase "cautiously optimistic" in your own words?

Then I'm afraid you need to spend some time with your teacher and let him (or her) know that his expectations are a little too high. There is no point in our saying "the asnwer is D" or "The answer is A" if it doesn't help you understand the material.
