I need to find a word with this definition

Hi
Could you please help me find a word that means: the trivial news that may be circulating along with some major event. For example, a great book has been published, and there is news about it in all literary magazines, and there are also people who would talk about how the author got the publisher to publish her book. I am a translator and I am looking for a word with this meaning.
Thank you for your time
