Living Each Moment in Life Life is a gift to enjoy. Ups and downs in life are full of pleasure. I became sure about the perfection of life and living it. It was after the moment I was alone, without my parents, went I learn to appreciate any moment in my life. Specially, to find the good side of everything I will never forget how a horrible situation gave me the opportunity to met my best friends. After few days from I finished high school, I left my country, Venezuela, to come to the United States to learn English, and then, go to University. On August 18, 2008, being seventeen years old, I arrived Philadelphia, started my English course and lost my happiness. The first thing I had to do was taking a test to place me in an English level. With a scared face and trembling from feet to head, I went inside the test room and took it. Because my English knowledge was almost zero, I finished the test quickly. After the test, the new students had a conference with professors to meet all of them. I thought that when I went to the conferences I would find some people who speak Spanish and make friends, but I was wrong because there was not any. In the conference, the majority people where Asians and Arabians. Also, there were few Brazilians and French, but I could not communicate with any of them because the only way was speaking English, which I hardly said 2 consecutives words. The conference was long and every minute I felt worse than the minute before. At the end of the conference, the dorms apartments were assigned. Students were called in alphabetic order. Because my last name's initial is "M", I was sure that I would not be called right away. The conference room became almost empty and I was not called. Then, there was not any other girl than me with out apartment, so I start to cry. Therefore, a young teacher with sweet looking, big smile and sweet voice, came to me and told me that my roommates had arrived before I did. As friendly gesture, she will bring me to my room. Then, I cleaned my tears from my face and tried to smile. While walking with her to the dormitory, I was frustrated for cannot speak English, and disappointed to my decision to being in Philadelphia. When we arrived to the door of my apartment, I closed my eyes and asked to myself "will I be OK or not? will they be nice?." The Teacher nock the door and no one answer, so she opened it and said "HELLOO", and again there was not an answer but there were some kind of noise. We entered and we thought that the 3 other girls were out, but they were in the room. The teacher smiling and with a surprising eyes, introduced me to my roommates, 3 Korean girls. The only thing that made me happy for a moment was that my mom came before I did to arrange my room with all my needs. It was a wonderful surprise. On the other hand, the Korean girls did not like much how my room was arranged; they were talking about me and looking at me in derogative way. I felt awkward about it, but the atmosphere became worse went the teacher left the apartment. Even when I did not feel comfortable with their behavior, I did not say anything because I did not want to be as a victim. I preferred to take a shower and go to sleep. Mora - #2 The next day, I woke up, took a shower, and starting to eat my breakfast when one of the Korean girls came and yielded to me "where is it? Where is my money?" I understood what she said, and I told her with some words and body language that I did not know and did not took anything from her stuff. She made a horrible face and said, "OK, sorry". Then, she went to talk to the others two girls in their language, I did not have any idea what they were talking about. Felling horrible for being called "a thief", I went to classes and asked for an apartment change. At the end of the day, the director call me and told me that she knew about my problem, so I will be moved to another apartment with 3 girls the same age as mine and from Latin-American, too. I thanked her and hoped that this situation would never occur to me again. I moved to the new apartment and met my new roommates. All of them were kind and lovely with me and we became best friends or as a family living together. Upon that moment, I believe that everything happens for some reason because every time something horrible occurs in my life, something wonderful is coming after it.
