Picture number one, shows the notice board in which Fiver first got his feeling about something bad happening to the warren in sandleford. The following sentence is right out of the book explaining what the notice board says and looks like. “Two piles of earth lay on the grass. Heavy posts, reeking of creosote and paint, towered up as high as the holly trees in the hedge, and the board they carried threw a long shadow across the top of the field.” Also, “ there was no passerby to read the sharp, hard letters that cut straight like black knives across its white surface.” The sign reads:
THE IDEALY SITUATED ESTATE, COMPRISING SIX ACRES OF EXCELLENT BUILDING LAND, IS TO BE DEVELOPED WITH HIGH CLASS MODERN RESIDENCES BY SUTCH AND MARTIN, LIMITED, OF NEWBURY, BURKS.
Fiver is so frightened by these premonitions he is having that he goes to the chief rabbit to tell him that everyone must leave the warren, because it is not safe for anyone, something terrible is going to happen. The chief rabbit mocks Fiver and tells him that what Fiver is asking him to do is impossible, The Chief Rabbit says to Fiver and Hazel that he can not ask all of these rabbits to leave their home warren, because young Fiver has a hunch that something bad is going to happen.
