I need help with my motivation letter

I hpe you can help me. I am not very good at writing, but I have to write a motivation letter for a participation on a contest on a conference. Could please somebody take a look at it. The Problem is, the letter must be finished today, because the deadline is today and I know it´s very less time, but I didn´t know that i could participate until yesterday morning.

I am writing to apply for the contest “XXX” on the XXX Workshop on XXX.

In 2007 I achieved my diploma in Business and Chemistry at the University in XX. Currently I am living in Wiesbaden and work at the XX University as a research assistant at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. There I recently started to work at my doctoral thesis. The subject will be the differentiability of synthesized, biological and mineralogical minerals using moessbauer spectroscopy. As a first step, I focus on the identification of nanophase ferric oxides from minerals of the Rio Tinto region, which is considered as a Mars analogue region.

The contest is a very good opportunity for me to meet other students and to exchange thoughts with them. I am always interested in meeting colleagues from other places to speak with them and to obtain new thoughts and ideas. I would appreciate it very much to participate in this contest.
