I need help putting these brief notes into an outline.
Meeting Of the Estates General Notes: • An Oath signed by about 576 out of 577members. • Joseph Martin-Dauch was the only one not to take the oath. • Reason-they were locked out of a meeting of the Estates General on june 20 1789. • Which was held in a tennis court. • This became known as the National Assembly on June 17, 1789. • Led by Honoré Gabriel Riqueti. • Here they took an oath to meet until a constitution was written. • Belief: Authority started with the people instead of a monarchy. • First time the French people stood against the King for what they believed in. • This forced to King to see to it that voting was based of the number of people and not order in society. • This inspired future riots and protests to come and called a new constitution into action. • This revolution started because the third estate was dissatisfied with the absolute monarchy in which the king wanted to rule with. • They would meet to discuss the reforms prime minister, Jacques Necker, had in mind. • These meetings included all of the Estates. • Their meeting place was a hall called the Menus Plaisirs. • When they arrived, they found it locked. • They saw this as a blatant attempt of the king to put an end to their reforms. • First Estate consisted of about 10,000 • 40,000 consisted of about 40,000 • 25,000 consisted of about 25 million • Unlike the First and Second Estate, the Third Estate was taxed heavily. • Since the number of representatives were unequal, the third estate demanded double reprensation. • Their sole purpose was to change the nation’s structure instead of just their taxes.
