I need help punctuating this sentence

Can someone help me punctuate this sentence correctly:

What were once emerging channels, including mass, dollar, club, etc., are now mainstream channels.

OR

What were once emerging channels - including mass, dollar, club, etc. - are now mainstream channels.

The use of commas is more common, but both are correct.

If you choose the dashes, you don't need the space between the first dash and "including" and between "etc." and the last dash:
"What were once emerging channels -including mass, dollar, club, etc.- are now mainstream channels."
