Hi Califjim,

I know I have been bothering you a lot with my questions related to would. I wish I were clear on it but unfortunately the only way I can clear up the confusion is by asking questions. Here is my question.

A: He still hasn’t called me. It would mean That means that he hasn’t arrived in India yet; otherwise he would’ve called me.

You said would in sentence can’t be used because this is "a real situation", not a discussion of theoretical possibilities.

B: A: He still hasn’t called me. It would seem that he hasn’t arrived in India yet; otherwise he would’ve called me.

Why is would in sentence B correct with the exact same context as sentence A? This is a real situation too. Would you mind answering this question and I will never ask any questions related to would?
