It effectively advertises the perfume in the center of the advertisement using a technique that focuses on demonstrating the perfume as a symbol of love and passion. In general, it implies that this perfume is the mean used to approach happiness, joy and adorable life style. However, the specific thoughts behind this advertisement are interpreted differently by various readers. It is dependent upon their values, beliefs, thoughts, and backgrounds.
In this advertisement there are three dominant discourses associated with love and romance, gender and social classes.
Firstly, in this romantic discourse, there are many significant meanings penetrating to a certain depth within the advertisement, consequently stimulating the reader and her feelings. Through this discourse, signifiers such as the text at the bottom, bright colorful flowers, rings, and the formal wedding outfits for the couple reveal connotations such as wedding atmosphere. Additionally the stance portrayed by both male and female and the positioning of their hands are the key elements depicting love, care and affection. This emphasizes that, ladies using this perfume are satisfied and will have an appropriate life partner.
Furthermore, the facial expressions, especially the smile, possessed by both of them conduct, as signifiers, connotations of pleasure, joy and draw a life picture full of vitality. The two gold rings worn by the couple give a very obvious indication of their relationship as an engaged pair. The perfume is a French product but it is sold and advertised globally. Textual signifiers like the word Paris carry out connotations that relate to the country France. Typically, Paris represents love, tourism and even a great place for couples to spend their honeymoon.
