I NEED AN ADVICE, PLEASE

Hello there, I'm an Italian college student. I'm workin' on a Research Paper about Spanglish.
I'd like to receive a suggestion. I wrote:

"Each population has its own identity. Identity means present and past habits and traditions which modifying and drugging on time those structures on which human beings shaping on."

Is it right?????

I think it doesn't work at all. What I wanted to say is that " these customs and traditions modify(themselves),during the years, and creating those socio-cultural structures on which human beings shaping on.
Is it better?? Maybe I'm making mistakes because I'm trying to translate this sentence from Italian.

Well, direct translation is a common impediment. Anyway, I now understand what you want to say, I think:

Each population has its own identity, its past and present customs and traditions, which are constantly changing through time and thereby creating those socio-cultural structures with which human beings are shaped.
