hello there, i need a outline for my academic writing research paper , my thesis statement is mor people smoke for the reasons of psychologically dependece, social integration, social problem, and peer experience. and i dont know what should i write into introduction part. do i need to give history of cigarette or defination of cigarette? and what are facts about smoking?

Anonymous i I need a an outline

You need a list of the things you want to discuss in your paper first. Write down whatever you can think of in whatever order you think of them. You can do this pretty fast. It doesn't need to be pretty. Just write down lots of ideas. You can throw out the bad ones later.

Then organize that list by combining similar things together. If something wanders too far off topic you can throw it out. Once you get that far, you can begin to build your outline.

You haven't written the paper yet, so there's no way to know what goes in your introduction. You don't even know what you're introducing! You have to write the main body of the paper first, following your outline. The introduction is -- believe it or not -- the last thing you write!

Given the topics mentioned in your thesis statement, I doubt that any definitions or history is necessary.
