I Love figures

Figures are what a businessman most concerns about. Figures are the core of science. Are figures deep? Are figures only for scientists and businessmen or other professionals? No, figures can be very deep and also can be very easy. Both of us can get benefit from it, if we apply them in our life. Now, I am going to share with you three methods of making good use of figures.

In order to make good use of figures, you need to cultivate a habit of transferring what happen around you into figures, and recording them. For an example, you spend a lot of money today. To this case, you need to transfer it into a figure. That will be an exact figure of how much you have spent today. You also need to record it. I will tell you how to make good use of it later.

First, we can use figures to supervise us. For an example, I record how much I spend and where I spend my money. I will check whether I overspend money every month. I tend to overspend my money unconsciously. However, after cultivating this habit, I will no longer overspend my money. The other example is that I also record what I do every day and separate them into four parts. After that, I will check it with four figures to see whether I spend my time on correct things, whether I overdo something or neglect something. The first figure is eight hours for school things. Second, five hours for self-improvement. Third, one point five hour for everyday tasks. Last, one point five hour for relaxation. Let me give you another example. If you only decide two trifles in a one-hour meeting, you can figure out that that is a gossiping not a meeting. You need to check what the problem is and try to improve with some skills. After applying new skills, you need to check that how much it has improved and see if you need to improve your meeting efficiency again.

Second, combine figures and predict. It does help for decision making; a lot of my friends recommend me to take an English vocabulary class. At that time, I make two experiments. First, I take its trial class. I find that I learn only 12 vocabularies for investing 2 hours on waiting for buses and taking bus and one point five hour on the lesson and twenty Ringgit for tuition fee and transport fair. The second experiment is that I spend two hours on reading textbooks. I find that I can memorize more than 20 vocabularies and 4 sentence patterns. With this figure, I can predict that I will learn more if I study by myself. Therefore, I should not go for the vocabulary classes. Let me give you another example. If you know how many words you can write while writing an essay, you can predict that how many minutes you need to leave out to write an essay. Therefore, you can plan your time more accurately.

Third, use it to express your ideas. It will help you avoid the problem of ambiguity of language. For an example, different people have different perspective about lateness and earliness. One day you’re going to go back home at 2PM. If two 2PM is very early for you, and you tell your mother that you are going to go back home very early tonight, it may course misunderstanding. Your mother may misunderstand that you’re going to go back home before 10PM. Your mother may end up thinking that you are a liar.

Let me recap them again. First, cultivate a habit of transferring things into figures and record them. Second, Make good use of them for supervising, predicting and expressing. If you explore it, you will find that there are many other usages of figures. You can try to study it. It will definitely be very beneficial and interesting.
