I lost it next day/the next day

I bought a camera, but I lost it next day/the next day.

Do both next day and the next day sound good to you? If not, why not? Thanks.

Hi Angliholic

You can only say 'the next day'. You also need 'the' with the next morning, the next afternoon, the next evening, the next night, the next minute.

However, you can say things such as next week, next month, next year, next quarter, next Christmas, next time (i.e. with or without 'the').
