"I like something PRETTY MUCH"

Does this sentence structure sound right to you?
Because, well, it doesn't to me!

If the speaker was trying to say that s/he likes the object a bit more than fine, s/he should have said that s/he likes it "pretty well".

Or am I wrong?

Thanks in advance:)

There must be a better version?
I certainly think that "I like it fairly well" is a better one.

Or simply "I like it pretty well"

This native speaker doesn't. Why do you think it's 'better'?

Is that so? I just hear of this version("I like it pretty well") more often, the part that I travel in the most is the west coast of the US, though. Maybe it's different in the UK?:)

That sounds very unnatural to me. I would say something like, “I really like it” or “I like it a lot” or “I love it”.

I totally agree! But the speaker who I conversated with was obviously trying to say that he likes that place just A BIT more than just fine(not a lot). He's not a native speaker.
So I wonder

Sometimes things sound unnatural until we hear them more often. I'm sorry to say, though, that if you think "conversated" sounds natural to you (and I assume it does since you wrote it), then maybe you're not quite ready to trust yourself completely on how natural t

I used to think of this as an euphemism of "I don't really like it."
Well, or at least, that's how people around me used to use it all the time.
