I like good strong words that mean something.

Hello everybody.

I have three questions. Would you please help me?

What does ' I like good strong words that mean something.' mean? I am not sure about the meaning of good and mean something.

Another question, what does 'More ungrateful wretches than we are were never seen' mean? I think it means we have been the most ungrateful wretches in the world so far, am I right?

And the last question, are rubbers a kind of shoes in the following and does with here mean by?
