I let my wife do the job vs I let my wife does the job.

I had a student ask if the following sentence is correct: I let my wife does the job. I said no, it should be do instead of does. However, I couldn’t explain why it was wrong

Could you please tell me why we don’t use does in this example?

Thanks kindly.

The form is I let someone + infinitive+ something. In your example, 'do' is an infinitive or base form of the verb. It has nothing to do with present tense.
