I KNOW THE MEANING BUT NOT THE WORD!

An English teacher once used a word (only once) which describes words which have no silent letters and are pronounced that way also. Like 'sand', 'banjo', 'jump', etc, as opposed to 'gnome', 'knife', etc.

Can someone please help me find the word which is loosely described above.

Many thanks.

Hi, Possibly 'phonographic', meaning that letters indicate sounds. But other people may offer you better suggestions. Best wishes, Clive
