"I knew that the earth was round when I was a baby."

1) "I knew that the earth is round when I was a baby."

2) "I knew that the earth was round when I was a baby."

Which one is natural and correct and is there a meaning difference between them, you think?

Thank you so much as usual and have a good and safe day.

Both are correct and synonymous. The second is more 'natural' in that native speakers are liable to regress the dependent verb.

Thank you so much and

"The theory showed that the earth is round."

This sentence above is totally natural and correct, but "The theory showed that the earth was round." is wrong because it does not make sense at all, right? Thank you so much as usual.

If you feel an urge to use "is" (because you know the fact to still be true) you can say "I have known X is Y since...[time in past]."
