Topic: Computer games are very bad for people and they cause a lot of problems, what do you think about that?

Although computer games play a huge role in the entertainment industry, their drawbacks outweigh a few positive points they bring about. Playing computer games is very bad for people, especial children because of its many negative points, bad effects on physical and mental health, and its impacts on their own lives and society.

First of all, playing games are not only time and money consuming but is proved to be addictive as well. More and more children give up other creative activities for computer and online games. In Vietnam, Internet shops are available everywhere and attract a lot of children and young people who cheat their parents to sneak into these places for long hour gaming. If they do not have any pocket money, they cut their breakfast sum for games. Many online game players are recognized to be addicted to this dreadful activity; it takes parents time and efforts to cure their child’s addiction to games.

Secondly, game players are seriously affected by health, both physically and mentally. Eye problems have been warned when children keep looking at the screen for long hours intensively. More children in this modern time wear glasses than before. Moreover, children playing games seem to be passive and lazy to take exercises, less physical movement causes obesity. More overweighed children are reported and the issue has been seriously taken into consideration. Nevertheless, mental problems are even more dangerous. When young players deal with violence and sensual affairs, their cruel behaviors and inhumane personality develop wildly. The illusionary deeds and victories keep them further away from the reality; the addictive children see themselves belonging to that cyber world.

Finally, playing too much computer games results in a lot of social problems. Children not under their parents’ surveillance play truant and drop school without their parents’ knowledge. They even involve in some thieves. Some others neglect their study and loss their interest in any other activities. Most of those players refuse to socialize and worsen social relationships.

In summary, computer games should be discouraged among young people as playing computer games is the root of all health problems affecting players and the direct reason for social problems.
