I just fell in love with her voice the first time when I heard her sing

I came across the sentense below:

"I just fell in love with her voice the first time when I heard her sing."

I fell a little bit strange for me accoring to my knowledge of grammar, and I think it is much better if the sentense could be like this:

"I just fell in love with her voice at the first time when I heard her singing (or voice)."

So, anyone please help me explain the two sentenses. Thank you for any help.
