I just can't understand this one


'Conduct may be founded on the hard rock or the wet marshes, but after a certain point I don't care what it's founded on.'

It's difficult to say out of context, but I would guess:

'People's behaviour may be based on strict moral principles or unstable personal preferences; but after a certain point, the basis of a person's conduct is no longer important to me, because I'm only interested in the behaviour itself.'

Others may have other interpretations.
