However, I have added the URL at which the sounds files didn't play well with me in the smart firewall in the Norton Internet security, but that doesn't make difference.  The process to add the URL as follows: first, I open the "smart firewall" option in the NIS. Then: I choose the "configure" option that is beside advance settings . After that, I have choose"configure" option which is beside the General Rules. Next, inside the window of general rules I choosed "add"button.I have despaired from this problem. As a result, I contacted you to give me some solution.I look forward to receiving your response at your earliest convenience.Yours faithfully,

Please could you be a little more explicit about what you said here:

What kind of player can be used instead of the Falsh Player?

It would be greatly apprecitated if you could help me.

Well, I looked at the page source, and it is very specific for Adobe Flash Player. Another player (e.g. RealPlayer) does not work.

I have firefox 3.6 and it works just fine for me. But I also have a high-speed internet and no proxy server. I have FlashPlayer version 11,1,102,55

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest FlashPlayer version. Or try a different browser, such as Chrome.

Thank you so much indeed, I have tried far too many browsers, however, that makes no differnce. As a result I have contacted the support service of that website and I have got this response:

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems listening to our recordings. It sounds as though you've already spotted that our streamed media content runs over the default port 1935. Can you ask your proxy server to allow all traffic through this port?

Otherwise, if your ISP can make a specific exception for our content, our server's IP addresses are:

www.poetryarchive.org --> 195.24.230.76 (website)

media.poetryarchive.org --> 195.24.230.75 (streaming server)

Is that any help? Do let me know if you still have questions.

By the way, there should be no need to disable your Norton Security programme to hear our audio.

On the other hand, I am not agree that the problem with the proxy server, because if it were, I think I would receive an error message from the proxy server. The proxy server is not on your computer. The proxy server is on a remote computer.

If you are using a company's computer, then this server is in your company's computing infrastructure.

If you are using an Internet Service Provider, then the proxy server is operated by that company's infrastructure.

The proxy server connects to your computer (via the local network), and then has a separate connection to the Internet. So all the Internet traffic between your computer and the Internet passes through the proxy server.

The proxy server has many advantages (and some disadvantages). It can improve Internet access speed, optimize the network traffic in a corporation, track users' Internet activities, block hackers, and filter (disallow) content. These features are set up by the administrator of the proxy server.

You will never get an error message on your computer from the proxy server (Unless the proxy server is down, in which case you will not be able to connect to the Internet at all). Errors go into log files on the server that the administrators can view.

If you have Windows, you can see if you are connected through a proxy server. On Windows XP (which I have), go to "Control Panel", then "Internet Options." At the top of the window you will see some tabs. Click on the "Connections" tab. Then click on the "LAN Settings" button. If your system is configured for a Proxy Server, you will see the "Proxy Server" box checked, and its address in the "address" box.

This configuration was set up in two ways: 1) your company configured the Windows operating system that they support with these settings. (2) When you used the CD (or instructions) that came from your ISP, it configured these settings.

The only way to change the Proxy Server settings is to request that the administrator change them.

If you do not have a Proxy server configuration, then the problem is somewhere else....
