It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early stage. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.

What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?

People believe that it is necessary to reach children how to behave correctly and politely at an early stage. One of the methods is to use punishment. I personally agree with this opinion. However, the punishment must by included with the right proportion.

Vietnamese education has always consider teaching manner at young age as very important thing to do. Children must learn how to behave themself before learning any academics. This will raise their awareness and establish healthy habit which crucial for the next step of education. But how to teach them effectively is a big question.

Many believe that punishment is a good way to hp them distinguish what is right or wrong. Sometimes, punishment such as violence can goes way too extreme. There are many cases where children have been found hit brutally and suffer serious injuries like broken bones, organ damage. These acts harm the children not only physically but also mentally. More than that, some kids suffer form mental disorders included over stimulation, depression, sudden panic. With all its downside, punishment still prove that it is not an ideal tool to teach children. Long term exposure punishment will create a mechanic in children mind. Instead of not repeating the bad behaviour, they will likely to continue doing so but they will find different ways to cover up their mistakes. From time to time, this mechanic grow and develop mindset which later can lead to crime commitments.

Parents and teachers must not slow to adapt this reality. First of all, they can use alternative punishments. By banning some of children' s favourites or asking them to correct their mistake over and over again,they can make kids feel guilty and later regret for what they've done.

To conclude, I think it is important to teach children what is good or bad behaviour when they still young. Punishments are needed but adults should not push it to extreme but rather find effective ways to make them distinguish right or wrong.
