I hope structure

Hi.
Regarding the following sentence.
" I hope you didn't go to meet us at bowling"

Did the speaker go bowling or not? To me, it sounds, they haven't gone bowling, but I realized afterwards that they went bowling.
So if I say, I hope you didn't come to my house, does it mean that I wish they had come to my house.
The above sentence is very confusing for me? Could you tell the structure of it? or paraphrase it?
