Hi everyone,
I hope someone helps me to do a proofreading to this explanation:
PS: I would someone says to me which one is correct? is incorrect. It should have been: Would someone kindly tell me/advise me as to which of the following sentences is correct?Cheers!
Thank you so much indeed. Though, would you mind letting me why my question"I would......?" is not correct?
On the other hand, yours has two questions in one sentence as I have understood and clarified below.
Would someone kindly tell me/advise me as to which of the following sentences is correct? On top of that, "which of the following sentence" is the subject of the auxiliary verb"is", isn't it? As long as the subject comes after the verb when we are asking about(subject) the thing or person that did the event.
However the whole of noun clause"which of the following sentences is correct" is as an object of the preposition "to"
Finally: if I had written that sentence as follows:I would someone says to me which one is correct., it would have been correct. I am fairly sure that it would have been correct. Because as far as I know that the format of say is as follows: say [to Somebody] Something/ or say Something [to Somebody], thus, the direct object of say is "which.....", and indirect object is "me". However, I am quite surprised because as far as I know that when an indirect object comes immediately after its verb[and this is the usual] should come without a preposition "to". However when it comes after a direct object should be preceded by a preposition "to".
